Five mornings a week my dear friend, Vivian, and I walk together for two miles. Mid-way we stop into a Tim Horton's for coffee and tea. It's a wonderful way to start the day.This morning was the coldest day yet this season. At -4 degrees you would think that a walk would be quite unpleasant. It wasn't. It was heart-warming and fun.
Our conversation is lively and, uniquely, our own. We have a tendency to jump from subject to subject and somehow manage to not lose the others' attention. Often we engage in a sort of verbal short-hand. Anyone listening to us would have great difficulty figuring out what we're talking about but we have no problem following each other.
Quite often we come out with the same phrase and say it in unison. That sort of interaction has become normal.
Our topics range from family, to what we're reading, to quantum physics, to fashion. The specifics of our clients never come up, though. That would go against our personal code of ethics.
